A sugar skull tattoo, otherwise known as a calavera tattoo, is a type of tattoo that is heavily inspired by the Mexican celebration of Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos. The tattoos are often brightly colored and very detailed, and they feature designs of skulls that are made out of either white or light-colored sugar. The tattoos can come in a variety of different designs and styles, and they often feature other imagery associated with the Day of the Dead celebration, such as flowers, candles, and crosses.
