Yakuza tattoos, a form of body art favored by Japan’s organized crime syndicates, have been gaining popularity among women in the last couple of years. Existing mainly in the underground, the traditional Yakuza tattoos, also known as Irezumi, are intricate and often cover the entire body. Despite its close association with the criminal underworld, females are turning to the art form for its unique aesthetic and as a way to express their individuality.
